Children's Programs and LGBTQ

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!  -Isaiah 5:20

Children’s Programing and Family Entertainment used to mean something.  It meant you could count on the programing to be free of sex, including heterosexual and homosexual sex.  No sexual immorality or inuendo.  It meant Christian folks could sit down with their kids and enjoy some safe entertainment. 

Sadly, that is no more. 

Today Children’s Programing is filled with direct and indirect attacks on Christian morality and traditional marriage and values.  Today Children’s Programing pushes same-sex marriage, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) indoctrination. Two girls kissing, two boys or men kissing.  Gone are the innocent days of youth.  Schools and libraries are filled with LGBTQ propaganda.  There are now drag shows for kids, and the military.  Gender Transition is praised and supported.  If you want to be a hero, just become LGBTQ. 

Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), paid for with your tax dollars, strongly endorses these lifestyles to adults, and children. 

For example, foxnews.com carried an article about Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt, R., axing a bill to fund PBS in Oklahoma.  Following are some quotes: 

"OETA [Oklahoma Educational Television Authority], to us, is an outdated system. You know, the big, big question is why are we spending taxpayer dollars to prop up or compete with the private sector and run television stations? And then when you go through all of the programing that's happening and the indoctrination and over-sexualization of our children, it's just really problematic, and it doesn't line up with Oklahoma values," Stitt told Fox News Digital. 

The governor’s office provided examples of OETA content that it considers objectionable, including a segment of "Let's Learn" in which a children’s book titled "The Hips on the Drag Queen Go Swish, Swish, Swish" is read by someone called Lil Miss Hot Mess. 

The governor’s office also pointed to a "PBS Newshour" feature on parents’ support for various gender care treatments including puberty blockers, a gay character in "Work It Out Wombats" which airs on OETA, PBS Kids’ "Clifford the Big Red Dog" introducing LGBTQ characters, a plethora of Pride Month programming on OETA, a special about a town of Christians and drag queens who "step into the spotlight to dismantle stereotypes," and a same-sex wedding featured on PBS Kids’ "Odd Squad." 

"Oklahoma taxpayers are going, ‘Hey, hang on, time out for just a second. That's not my values,’" he said. "I'm just tired of using taxpayer dollars for some person's agenda. I represent the taxpayers."

"PBS is clearly engaged in promoting inappropriate LGBTQ+ and critical race theory [CRT] propaganda to our children," Citizens Defending Freedom Chief Communications Officer Kristen Huber said in a press release Thursday.

Last week, Stitt also banned all sex reassignment procedures for minors in the state, including irreversible gender transition surgeries and hormone therapies, joining at least 15 other states with similar laws.

"We believe in traditional family values. We're not going to let biological males participate in girls’ sports," he [Stitt] said.  (End quotes)

Thank God for Governor Stitt, Governor DeSantis, Governor Abbott and others willing to stand for the traditional values most Americans have believed.  The values that have made our country strong. 

What can be done about this problem? 

1.  Get informed.

2.  Support those who take the right stands. 

3.  Vote your convictions.  Encourage others to vote. 

4.  Seriously pray for Revival, Spiritual Awakening in our land.

5.  Support your church and missions as never before.  

6.  When appropriate, speak out with tact and love.

LGBT and Suicide

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.  -Genesis 1:27

Youth who identify as homosexual, bisexual, and transgender have a significantly higher risk of suicide and life-threatening behavior compared with heterosexual youth, according to an extensive study published in JAMA Pediatrics, 2018.  Biblical morality is better, safer, and should be widely taught.  We are to love everyone, but it is not loving to affirm sinful, self-destructive behavior. 

My heart goes out to anyone who considers, or commits suicide.  Please see “13 Reasons Why Not to Commit Suicide,” linked below. 

Suicide affects all groups and categories of people.  Yet, when one group has a significantly higher rate of suicide and life-threatening behavior, it should give us pause.  It should cause sincere concern. 

Some will contend the higher rate is because of the general population not accepting their lifestyles.  But LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender) lifestyles have more acceptance today than ever.  Furthermore, these higher rates of self-destructive behaviors are also seen in even more accepting cultures such as Sweden. 

Excerpts from Christian Post article:

Dr. Michelle Cretella, executive director of the American College of Pediatricians, told The Christian Post that the study "confirms what no one disputes: Namely, that youth who identify as LGBQT have higher rates of mental illness leading to a greater risk of life-threatening behaviors."

Sweden is among the most LGBT affirming nations in the world, yet, LGBT mental illness and suicide rates in Sweden are just as dramatically elevated relative to the general population.

A September study conducted by Russell B. Toomey, Ph.D., of the University of Arizona-Tucson, found that more than half of all teenagers who identify as female to male transgender have attempted suicide.

Therapy bans and reports of trans regret grow

“Former transgender activist Walt Heyer, 78, had sex change surgery in 1983 and lived as a woman for eight years before he became a Christian and accepted his biological sex. He released ‘Trans Life Survivors’ in October, a book of stories from dozens of individuals who regret their decision to undergo sex change surgery. The book tells 30 stories, but Heyer said hundreds contacted him and said they wished they hadn't identified as transgender.”  -Baptist Press

Jesus Christ on Same-Sex Marriage

Last week, for the first time in 236 years, an American President has endorsed the idea of Same Sex Marriage. Today it seems the media, the entertainment world, and much of our public school system is on his side. Sodom and Gomorrah are also on his side. On this issue our President has been said to be on the side of history. Better to be on the side of God. 

Often it is said Jesus never spoke on homosexuality or Same-Sex Marriage. That is not true. 

First, Jesus endorsed the entirety of the Old Testament (Matthew 5:17; 26:56; Luke 16:31; 18:31; 24:25; John 5:46; 17:17; etc.) , and the old Testament speaks clearly on the issue of homosexuality. There is no doubt it proclaims homosexual behavior as sinful (Leviticus 18:22; Genesis 19; Jude 7; 2 Peter 2:6; etc.).

I remember Dr. Roy Fish at SWBTS saying you could fill up a paper saying the Bible is infallible, inerrant, inspired, our supreme standard of faith and practice, truth without mixture of error, completely true and trustworthy - and Jesus would sign it every time.

Second, Jesus said the Holy Spirit would guide the disciples into all truth. Part of that covers the way the Holy Spirit inspired Paul and the other biblical writers in writing the New Testament. The New Testament also speaks clearly on the issue of homosexuality (Romans 1:21-32; ; 1 Timothy 1:10; 2 Peter 2:6; Jude 7).

Third, Jesus spoke of marriage as being between one man and one woman for life (Mark 10:6-9). He referred back to Genesis where God made them male and female. Where God made Adam and Eve, one man for one woman in marriage. God did not make Adam and Eve and Mary and Sarah and Lisa. It was never God’s ideal to create polygamy. Neither did God create Adam and Steve. In the Garden of Eden God created them male and female, marriage is intended to be one man and one woman. According to Jesus, marriage is to be between one man and one woman.

Fourth, Jesus is God (Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1, 14; 20:28; Romans 9:5; Titus 2:13) and as such He inspired the entirety of Scripture (2 Timothy 3:16). In a very real sense, when it comes to the Bible, Jesus said it all. He inspired it all. When the Bible speaks on morality, Jesus inspired it, Jesus said it.

In multiple ways, Jesus did speak of the immorality of the homosexual lifestyle. It should also be remembered Jesus offers grace and mercy to all sinners, whether homosexual or heterosexual. Churches should be welcoming to homosexuals; but not affirming of the lifestyle. True love and compassion will warn of a sinful, destructive, dead-end lifestyle.

To the homosexual:
Jesus Christ, God the Son loves you as much as He loves me or anyone else. Jesus gave His blood, His life, for you; and He rose again. No man is beyond God’s love and grace. No one is too big a sinner for God to save.

How does a homosexual get saved? The same way the rest of us dirty rotten sinners get saved. By admitting our sin, believing Jesus died for our sins and rose again, and trusting Him as our Lord (Boss) and Savior.

Did you know the New Testament church of 2,000 years ago included ex-homosexuals? 1 Corinthians gives a long list of sins, including homosexuality, and then says such were some of you, but you have been justified (made just as if you never sinned in the eyes of God) by Jesus Christ.

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. - 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

Yes, sometimes those recovering from whatever, slip and fall. But stay close to Jesus, His Word, and His church. If you fall, ask His forgiveness and get back up.
